American Soprano Gabrielle Flannery is currently an Artist-in-Residence with Dayton Opera for the 2024/2025 season, performing in educational programing and community outreach concerts. In December of 2024, Gabrielle performed as soprano soloist for Handel’s Messiah with the Dayton Philharmonic under the baton of Neal Gittleman.
In summer of 2024, Gabrielle was a young artist with Dramatic Voices Program Berlin. She performed Vierte Magd. in Strauss’ Elektra, directed by Richard Gammon and conducted by Elda Laro, and offered Mozart selections for the Lieder Festival. Flannery also appeared in the Dayton Philharmonic Memorial Day Concert, conducted by Neal Gittleman, and held a recital with Joe Severyn.
In the 2023/2024 season, Gabrielle was an Artist-in-Residence with Dayton Opera and a graduate student at University of Northern Iowa. While in Residency with Dayton Opera, Gabrielle performed the sung role of Lucy in Austin Jaquith’s Dracula: Bloodlines with the Dayton Ballet and Dayton Philharmonic, conducted by Neal Gittleman. She sang as an ensemble soloist in Sweeney Todd, directed by Kathleen Clawson and conducted by Neal Gittleman, and performed as soprano soloist in children’s educational programming and community outreach concerts. At University of Northern Iowa, Flannery performed in an audience choice aria concert “Glitter-or-Gold,” and completed her graduate recital earning her degree in the spring of 2024.
In the summer of 2023, Flannery performed the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Bay View Music Festival. Richard Gammon directed, and Everett McCorvey conducted. Flannery performed as Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi directed by Richard Gammon and conducted by Casey Robards. In the early portion of the summer festival, Flannery performed as Silly Girl and Ensemble in Beauty and the Beast, directed by Justin Lucero and conducted by Chris Ludwa. After the opera productions, Flannery stayed on to participate in the American Spiritual Ensemble Intensive.
Previous credits include Abby in the world premier of The Beehive (Sosa/Tien) with UNI Opera, Musetta in La bohème, as well as Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music with the Bay View Music Festival, and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas with UNI.
Flannery holds a bachelor degree in vocal performance from Lee University and a master degree in vocal performance from the University of Northern Iowa. She grew up in Union, Ohio and currently resides in Dayton, Ohio.
